FIELD TRIP TO BOSTON:
BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC
On Saturday January 31st, 2009 six students from the 7th grade concert band traveled to Boston with the Ellington High School Jazz Band to attend the 41st
Annual High School Jazz Festival presented by the Berklee College of Music. Tyler Daly, Josh Luginbuhl, Brittany Nutile, Erich Martin, Erin McGrath, and Erin Schirra spent the day in Boston with Miss Stolarun and the EHS jazz band students.
They dined at The Cheesecake Factory for lunch and went to the Looney Tunes record store in the afternoon. The students attended a drum clinic by Gregg Bissonette, listened to the Berklee Jazz Orchestra (one of the longest-running and premier student ensembles at the college) and supported the Ellington High Jazz Combo and Jazz Band as they performed for judges throughout the day. On the way home they stopped at a rest stop for dinner and dessert. The students had fun on this music filled day!
YES CLUB
If you are thinking about becoming a teacher someday you should join the Young Educators Society (Yes Club)
The Young Educators Society (YES) is a teacher-mentored, club program that aims to interest middle and high school students – particularly minorities – in becoming teachers. YES members will hold reading sessions for younger students, become a mentor, attend monthly meetings and workshops and go on several field trips to various schools and colleges throughout the year.
